Sep 16, 2026 — the family renames

The cats took the family name: LedgerPaw, StoragePaw, LogPaw. Same versions, rebuilt under the new names — download filenames changed (LedgerCat-1.2.8.exe is now LedgerPaw-1.2.8.exe, same pattern for the other two) and the SHA-256 files on the products page match the new files. LogPaw's data folder stays Documents\LogCat\logs so existing logs stay put. GitHub repo names keep the Cat spelling for now; renaming those is a separate coordinated step.

Layout pass from Dad's third live test. The Units grid now runs in the order that matters: Unit, Tenant, Phone, Due now, This month, Last month, Days late, Move-in, Aging. Long notes collapse to a 📝 in the grid — hover for the full text, double-click to edit — instead of stretching rows across the screen. The Save settings button no longer clips its own label. Size and rent per unit still show in Add/Edit and the rent-roll CSV.

Four fixes from Dad's second live test. The Deleted view now shows only deleted rows on Units, Money and Waitlist — including deleted used to mean showing everything. A move-in date in the future reads "Starts (date)" with no late flag, because a lease that hasn't begun can't be behind on rent. Each unit gets a "Due now" column in the grid — the exact amount that unit owes today, late fee included. And every button on the Money/Data tab (open data folder, exports, imports) works again: the click handler was being accepted and then silently dropped — the same never-wired-button bug LedgerCat carried until v1.2.4.

All nine points from Dad's first live test. Soft delete with a Deleted view (Undo delete / Delete forever) on Units, Money and Waitlist. Calendar date pickers beside every date box — typing still works. Last-month-due judges from the lease start date, so a fresh move-in no longer reads as owing last month. Tabs refresh on every save and every switch, and keep your selected row. Total owed shows in the Units summary. Recorded rent no longer reads Paid while the late fee is outstanding. The paid/late box is shaded green/red, not just the text. Open data folder works again (same Windows shell bug LedgerCat had). Plus one bonus from Dad: a prorate tick next to first-of-month billing — mid-month move-ins owe rent × days left in the move-in month, move-in day included, rounded to the cent, first month only.

First light. Built to a published spec, then shaped by Dad's review of that spec. Units outlive tenants: generate your whole unit list from a size-and-quantity table; first-of-month or anniversary billing; grace period + late fee; Paid / Due / LATE with days late and delinquency aging buckets (1-30/31-60/61-90/90+); last month's status as its own column; waitlist with hold-fee tracking; one-click rent-roll CSV; money in/out with monthly and yearly totals; CSV/JSON import & export; light/dark mode. No gates, no online payments, no portal, no lien letters — deliberately.

Extra columns you add yourself on Properties, Money, Requests, and Waitlist: add, drag, hide/show, fill them in the dialog. Leftover CSV headers become user columns instead of aborting. Export includes them. CSV mapping screen. Duplicate rename keeps the old name as name-old. Waitlist has its own CSV import/export. Same data folder as 1.2.8. Three StorageCat quality-of-life features crossed over, plus one new trick. Last month's rent is its own column (green Paid, red DUE) judged from the new Lease start date — a fresh move-in never owes last month, the same rule Dad caught in StorageCat's first test. Recording rent now includes any unpaid last-month balance in the suggested amount and says so in the note. Every date box got a calendar picker beside it. And double-clicking a 📝 note cell on Properties, Money or Requests opens a small note editor — no full dialog.

Tabs reload when you switch to them: record rent on the Money tab and the Properties page shows Paid ✓ and the green glow the moment you click over — no edit or reopen needed.

Late rows in the Rent this month column show the actual number due, late fee included — LATE $3 (+$2 fee) instead of a bare LATE. The record-rent confirm popup now counts the late fee in its expected total, so a correct pre-fill no longer triggers the "is this right?" nag. (Both from the same test session as v1.2.5 — thanks, Dad.)

Paid-up tracked properties glow light green across the whole row. The Rent this month column shows the amount still owed instead of the due day (LATE + fee when past due). Recording rent on a late, unpaid property pre-fills the total including the late fee, noted in the entry. Lease-notes box spans the full dialog width under its own label — same for the money note and request notes boxes. Clicking a highlighted row again clears the highlight. Horizontal scrolling now reaches the notes column (the stretching column moved off the end).

MAJOR fix: the Import/Export buttons did nothing since v1.0 — their click handlers were passed in but never wired up. Properties columns reordered for the front desk: property, tenant, contact, pets, due day, rent this month, security deposit, then the rent breakdown, lease ends, days left, and a trailing 📝 notes indicator (hover it to preview the note). Note/Notes columns stretch to fill the window. Dialog tip labels wrap instead of clipping; comment boxes grew. About tab version finally caught up with reality.

LedgerCat has an icon — cat face in amber, in Explorer, the title bar and the taskbar. Deleted views rebuilt: only Undo delete and Delete forever stay enabled; everything else grays out so a deleted-view action can never touch the active tab. "Undo all" removed on purpose — restoring goes one at a time. Money and Requests deleted views gained their missing Undo delete / Delete forever buttons.

Crash fix: adding or editing a property threw ArgumentOutOfRangeException (a column-reading mix-up in the database layer). Also fixed: pet count blocking save on unchecked-pets properties, and requests losing their property link on the list.

New columns: Rent, Pet fee, Late fee, Total due/mo, Rent this month, Security dep, Pets. Canceling a request asks why; requests gained Retry later + Notes columns. Cell tooltips show full text.
